The overall level of China's casting and forging industry will further improve in 2025

Casting and forging are indispensable process links in the equipment manufacturing industry, important support and basic guarantee for the innovative development of numerous host products and high-end equipment, and related to the safety and stability of the equipment manufacturing industry chain supply chain. In order to better promote the high-quality development of the casting and forging industry, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment recently issued the "Guiding Opinions on Promoting the High Quality Development of the Casting and Forging Industry" (hereinafter referred to as the "Guiding Opinions").

The Guiding Opinions propose four 'persistence'. Adhere to innovation driven, place technological innovation at the core, strengthen the dominant position of enterprise innovation, promote the deep integration of industry, academia, and research led by enterprises, break through a batch of key core technologies, accelerate high-end and intelligent transformation, and improve the level of independent innovation. Adhere to market orientation, fully leverage the decisive role of the market in resource allocation, and respect the dominant position and independent decision-making power of enterprises in the market. Better leverage the government's role, build a fair and orderly market competition order, and create a favorable development environment. Adhere to green development, establish a solid system thinking, promote both innovation and innovation, collaborate to promote carbon reduction, pollution reduction, and green growth, implement energy-saving and emission reduction, water-saving and pollution reduction, and material conservation and consumption reduction upgrades, and integrate green concepts throughout the entire process of casting and forging production. Adhere to quality first, play a leading role in standards, strengthen the main responsibility of enterprise quality, enhance the quality control ability of the entire production process, improve product quality, achieve industry quality and efficiency improvement, and ensure the safety and stability of the industrial chain supply chain.

The Guiding Opinions propose development goals in stages. By 2025, the overall level of the casting and forging industry will further improve, and the ability to ensure the safety and stability of the equipment manufacturing industry supply chain will be significantly enhanced. The industrial structure is becoming more reasonable, and the industrial layout and production factors are more coordinated. Breakthroughs have been made in high-end castings and forging products in key fields, and a group of core technologies with independent intellectual property rights have been mastered. 

Advanced processes such as integrated die-casting forming, dieless casting, sand 3D printing, ultra-high strength steel hot forming, precision cold warm hot forging, and lightweight high-strength alloy have been industrialized and applied. Build more than 10 industrial clusters with demonstration effects, and preliminarily form a good ecosystem for the coordinated development of large, small, and medium-sized enterprises, as well as upstream, midstream, and downstream industries in the industrial chain. The effect of intelligent transformation is prominent, creating more than 30 intelligent manufacturing demonstration factories. Cultivate more than 100 green factories, reduce particulate matter pollution emissions in the casting industry by more than 30% compared to 2020, achieve an annual recycling of over 8 million tons of casting waste sand, and reduce energy consumption per ton of forgings by 5% compared to 2020.

By 2035, the overall level of the industry will enter the international advanced ranks, forming a complete industrial technology system and continuous innovation capabilities. The resilience of the industrial chain supply chain will be significantly enhanced, and the level of green development will be significantly improved. A group of world-class high-quality enterprise groups will be cultivated and developed, and advanced manufacturing clusters with international competitiveness will be formed.
